A Quiet Place to Think About Money

Thara Capital was founded on the belief that financial understanding should be accessible, honest, and without pressure — particularly for those who are past the early career years and navigating more complex household decisions.

How Thara Capital Began

Thara Capital was established in Bangkok in 2017 by a group of financial professionals who noticed something particular: many of their own relatives and family friends — educated, thoughtful people in their forties and fifties — had never had a clear, unhurried conversation about money.

Not because they were not interested. But because the conversations available to them were either too technical, too commercial, or too brief. Financial advisors wanted to sell products. Online resources assumed familiarity with terms that had never been properly explained. And the general pace of daily life left little room for reflection.

The founders decided to create the kind of programme they wished had existed for their own parents and older siblings — small, carefully paced, and completely free of product sales. The name Thara is drawn from a Thai word for a slow and steady river, which felt like the right image for what they were building.

Since opening, Thara Capital has worked with several hundred participants across Bangkok, conducting programmes in Pomprap and occasionally at partner venues around the city. The team has remained deliberately small, and the approach has remained deliberate in its pace.

Mission and Values

Our mission is to make considered financial thinking available to Thai adults who are navigating the middle and later chapters of their financial lives — without intermediary interests, without urgency, and without the assumption that everyone starts from the same place.

01

Honesty without agenda

We do not earn commission from any financial product. Our only interest is in the quality of understanding each participant takes home.

02

Patience with complexity

Financial topics take time to settle. We do not rush through content to fill a schedule. Sessions are designed to allow questions to surface naturally.

03

Respect for experience

Adults 40 and above bring decades of lived context to the room. Our facilitators treat that experience as a resource, not an obstacle to teaching.

How We Hold Our Work

Facilitator Qualifications

All programme facilitators hold relevant professional qualifications and have a minimum of ten years of applied experience in their subject area.

No Conflicts of Interest

Thara Capital maintains a formal policy against any facilitator holding referral or commission arrangements with financial product providers. This is reviewed annually.

Participant Privacy

Personal information shared during sessions is treated with strict confidentiality. We do not share participant data with third parties, and our data practices comply with applicable Thai law.

Content Review Process

Programme materials are reviewed before each cycle to reflect current market conditions, regulatory updates, and participant feedback from previous sessions.

Post-Session Feedback

Every programme ends with an anonymous feedback form. Results are reviewed by the programme team and inform the content of the following cycle.

Group Size Limits

Sessions are capped at 14 participants. This is a firm limit, not a target. We close registration when that number is reached to preserve the quality of each room.

Financial Education on Thai Terms

Financial conversations in Thailand carry a particular texture. The relationships between generations are central to household decision-making in ways that standard Western personal finance frameworks do not fully address. Supporting an elderly parent while also planning for one's own later years, while also helping a younger family member — this is not an unusual situation; it is the ordinary situation for many Thais in their forties and fifties.

Thara Capital's programmes are built around these realities. The facilitators draw on Thai household examples, Thai savings instruments, and the structure of Thai inheritance and estate considerations. The Stock Exchange of Thailand is used as the primary equity reference. The currency, the regulatory framework, and the cultural assumptions are all local.

At the same time, we draw on international frameworks where they add clarity — the longer history of equity returns across Asian markets, comparative savings rate data, and structural thinking about how different generations within a household hold financial risk differently. The intention is to give participants a well-grounded view, not a narrow one.

All of this is delivered at a pace that respects the fact that most participants come to Thara Capital having spent decades managing real financial lives — jobs, mortgages, children, parents, business interests. They do not need to be told what money is. They need a quiet room and a facilitator who can help them think more clearly about what they already know.
